The 1984 Penfolds Bin 95 Grange Shiraz is a rare and highly collectible release from Australia’s most iconic wine label. Produced by Penfolds, Grange is internationally recognised as one of the world’s great wines and a benchmark for Australian fine wine. With more than four decades of bottle age, the 1984 vintage offers collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to experience a mature expression of this legendary wine.

Crafted primarily from Shiraz with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit was sourced from premium South Australian vineyards across renowned regions including Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale, and Magill Estate. Following fermentation, the wine was matured in new American oak hogsheads, a defining characteristic of the Grange style that contributes structure, longevity, and complexity.

The 1984 vintage is renowned for its richness, concentration, and classic Grange character. The bouquet displays evolved aromas of blackberry, plum, fig, liquorice, cedar, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, leather, roasted coffee, and earthy spice. Decades of careful maturation have allowed the wine to develop exceptional complexity while retaining impressive fruit intensity.

On the palate, it is full-bodied, layered, and beautifully integrated. Flavours of dark berries, blackcurrant, mocha, cocoa, spice, mature oak, and savoury notes unfold across a rich and harmonious structure. Fine tannins and balanced acidity provide freshness and length, while the mature fruit character showcases the remarkable ageing potential that has made Grange famous worldwide.

The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with lingering notes of cedar, dark chocolate, tobacco, spice, and dried fruits. Properly cellared examples remain highly prized among collectors and investors due to their rarity and historical significance.

A true museum-worthy bottle, the 1984 Penfolds Grange represents an important chapter in the legacy of Australia’s greatest wine and is a standout addition to any serious fine wine collection.
