The 1996 Penfolds Bin 95 Grange Shiraz is a rare and highly collectible vintage from Australia’s most iconic fine wine label. Produced by Penfolds, Grange is internationally celebrated for its exceptional longevity, concentration, and ability to evolve over decades. The 1996 vintage represents a classic expression of the Grange style, offering remarkable depth, complexity, and maturity after nearly three decades of bottle ageing.

Crafted predominantly from Shiraz with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit was sourced from some of South Australia’s most prestigious vineyard regions, including Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale, and Magill Estate. The wine was matured for 18 months in new American oak hogsheads, a hallmark of the Grange winemaking tradition established by the legendary Max Schubert.

The bouquet is richly layered and beautifully evolved, revealing aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, liquorice, dark chocolate, mocha, cedar, vanilla oak, tobacco leaf, and sweet baking spices. With further aeration, complex tertiary notes of leather, roasted coffee, dried fruits, truffle, and earthy undertones emerge, showcasing the benefits of extended cellaring.

On the palate, the wine is powerful yet harmonious, displaying concentrated flavours of dark berries, cassis, dark chocolate, espresso, spice, mature oak, and savoury complexity.
