The 2003 Penfolds Bin 95 Grange Shiraz is a powerful and highly collectible vintage from Australia’s most iconic wine. Produced by Penfolds, Grange is globally recognised as one of the world’s greatest wines, defined by its extraordinary concentration, longevity, and multi-regional blending philosophy.
The 2003 vintage was shaped by a warm, dry growing season across South Australia, resulting in lower yields and highly concentrated fruit. Sourced from premium vineyards in Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, and Magill Estate, the wine follows the classic Grange approach and was matured for around 18 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads, delivering its signature richness and structure.
On the nose, it is deeply expressive, showing intense aromas of blackberry, plum, mulberry, and dark cherry layered with mocha, liquorice, vanilla, and smoky oak. With time in glass, secondary complexity emerges—espresso, roasted coffee, leather, dried herbs, and savoury earth tones.
On the palate, the 2003 Grange is dense, full-bodied, and highly structured. Concentrated dark fruit flavours are supported by firm but refined tannins, giving the wine both power and longevity. The balance between ripe fruit, oak integration, and savoury depth makes it a classic example of early-2000s Grange style.
The finish is long, commanding, and persistent, with lingering notes of dark chocolate, spice, cedar, and mature oak. While already approachable with extended aeration, this vintage continues to reward long-term cellaring and remains a sought-after bottle among collectors.
