The 2018 Two Hands Ares Shiraz is the pinnacle of the flagship range from Two Hands Wines, representing the finest expression of Shiraz produced by the winery in a given vintage. Named after the Greek god of war, Ares is crafted from a meticulous barrel selection process, where only a handful of the best barrels from over a thousand are chosen for the final blend. The wine is matured for approximately 24 months in predominantly new and one-year-old French oak, creating a Shiraz of extraordinary depth, power, and elegance.

The outstanding 2018 Barossa Valley vintage delivered fruit of exceptional concentration and balance, allowing Ares to showcase both immense richness and remarkable finesse. Widely regarded as one of Australia’s elite Shiraz wines, it combines the intensity of old-vine Barossa fruit with precision, structure, and longevity.

The bouquet is intensely aromatic and complex, revealing layers of blueberry, blackberry, dark plum, and black cherry, intertwined with notes of roasted meat, sage, dried herbs, tea leaf, warm earth, sandalwood, and baking spice. Additional nuances of dark chocolate, espresso, lavender, and subtle oak spice emerge with time in the glass.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet remarkably seamless, delivering concentrated flavours of blackberry, plum, dark berries, mocha, chocolate, and spice. Despite its power, the wine possesses a silky, almost weightless texture, with exceptionally fine tannins and perfectly integrated acidity creating a sense of effortless balance.
