The 2020 Argiano Solengo is a bold and modern Tuscan “Super Tuscan” red blend from the historic estate Argiano in Montalcino, Italy. Known for combining tradition with contemporary precision, Argiano produces Solengo as its flagship international-style wine, showcasing power, polish, and exceptional structure.

The 2020 vintage in Tuscany delivered excellent conditions, with warm days and cool nights allowing for full ripening while preserving freshness and acidity. This resulted in a wine of depth, balance, and refined intensity.

Solengo is a Bordeaux-inspired blend typically based on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Petit Verdot, sourced from carefully selected estate vineyards. Each variety is vinified separately before blending, then matured in French oak barriques (with a proportion of new oak) to build complexity, structure, and integration.

The bouquet is rich and layered, showing blackcurrant, blackberry, and ripe plum, supported by notes of cherry liqueur, violets, cedar, tobacco leaf, and dark chocolate. Subtle Mediterranean undertones of herbs, spice, and graphite minerality add depth and sophistication.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, dense, and finely structured, with concentrated dark fruit flavours of cassis, black cherry, and plum compote. The tannins are polished and powerful, balanced by fresh acidity that brings lift and definition.

The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with lingering notes of black fruit, cocoa, espresso, spice, and savoury oak complexity. While approachable with decanting, the 2020 Solengo is built for long-term cellaring and will continue to evolve over 10–20+ years, gaining further nuance and tertiary complexity.
