The 2020 Pressing Matters R69 Riesling is a premium Tasmanian Riesling from the highly regarded Pressing Matters Wines, known for its precise, site-driven Riesling range defined by residual sugar levels rather than region or vineyard alone. The “R69” designation refers to the wine’s residual sugar level (approximately 69 g/L style reference within the estate’s classification system), placing it firmly in a late-harvest, off-dry to medium-sweet Riesling style.

Sourced from cool-climate Tasmanian vineyards, the 2020 vintage reflects a season that delivered excellent acidity retention alongside slow, even ripening—ideal conditions for aromatic intensity and balanced sweetness.

The wine is crafted to preserve purity and aromatic clarity, with gentle pressing and cool fermentation in stainless steel to retain freshness and varietal expression.

The bouquet is lifted and expressive, showing lime cordial, lemon curd, ripe pear, and white peach, alongside floral notes of jasmine, orange blossom, and honeysuckle. Subtle mineral tones and citrus zest add lift and precision.

On the palate, the wine is rich, textured, and smoothly weighted, balancing sweetness with vibrant acidity. Flavours of candied citrus, stone fruit, and honeyed lime are layered with a gentle mineral backbone, preventing any sense of heaviness.

The finish is long, clean, and fruit-driven, with lingering notes of lemon honey, citrus peel, and floral sweetness. While approachable now, the wine also has the structure to develop additional complexity over 8–15 years, evolving toward more toasty, honeyed, and tertiary notes.
