The 2022 Giaconda Nantua ‘Les Deux’ Shiraz is a refined, cool-climate expression of Shiraz from one of Australia’s most iconic boutique producers, Giaconda in Beechworth, Victoria. Sourced from select parcels—primarily the Warner Vineyard—this wine reflects Giaconda’s minimalist, terroir-driven winemaking philosophy and the distinctive alpine influence of Beechworth.

The 2022 vintage was shaped by a cooler ripening season, producing a more delicate, finely spiced style of Shiraz compared to warmer-year expressions. It is often described as a “cool-climate Shiraz with Pinot-like finesse,” showing lift, perfume, and restraint rather than sheer power.

Fruit was carefully hand-harvested and fermented with gentle extraction to preserve purity and aromatic detail. The wine is matured in French oak, allowing subtle integration of structure while keeping the focus firmly on red-fruited expression and spice.

The bouquet is lifted and complex, showing bright red cherry, red plum, and raspberry, layered with white pepper, clove, cinnamon, sandalwood, and subtle roasted beetroot. With air, more savoury elements emerge, including briar, dried herbs, and forest floor notes, adding depth and intrigue.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and finely structured, with soft, polished tannins and a refreshing acid backbone. Flavours of red berries, cherry, and spice glide across a supple texture, with a savoury undertone that keeps the wine focused and elegant.

The finish is long and graceful, tapering into pepper, spice, red fruits, and earthy complexity, making it immediately approachable while still capable of short- to medium-term cellaring (around 5–10 years).
