The Henschke Keyneton Euphonium Red Blend is a premium Australian red blend from one of the country’s most respected family wineries, Henschke. It sits in the “Eden Valley meets Barossa Valley” style, combining elegance from high-altitude vineyards with the richness and depth of Barossa fruit.

This wine is typically built around Shiraz, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and a small portion of Cabernet Franc, with the exact blend varying by vintage. Fruit is sourced from select vineyards across Eden Valley and Barossa Valley, including older vine plantings that contribute concentration and aromatic complexity.

The wine is matured in a combination of French and American oak (both new and seasoned) for around 18 months, resulting in a style that balances structure with plush fruit expression rather than heavy oak dominance.

On the nose, it shows expressive aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, and mulberry, layered with violet, liquorice, and subtle herbal notes. With aeration, more complexity appears—cocoa, cedar, black pepper, dried herbs, and earthy spice.

On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with a smooth, polished texture. Ripe dark fruit flavours are supported by fine tannins and fresh acidity, giving it both immediate drinkability and moderate ageing potential. Compared with more powerful Barossa Shiraz styles, Euphonium leans toward finesse, harmony, and blend complexity.

The finish is long and balanced, with lingering notes of dark berries, spice, cocoa, and gentle savoury oak. It is widely considered a “signature red blend” in the Henschke range, sitting below single-vineyard icons but above everyday regional wines in both structure and prestige.
