2022 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz 750ml
The 2022 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz is a sophisticated expression of Margaret River Shiraz, combining depth, fragrance and structure with the elegance that defines the Art Series range.
The 2022 vintage is a blend of 94% Shiraz, 3% Viognier and 3% Malbec. A warm and prolonged ripening period allowed the grapes to develop ripe flavours and refined tannins while retaining freshness and natural acidity.
The wine opens with an alluring floral perfume of violets and rose petals, followed by a rich core of mulberries, raspberries and currants. Subtle notes of graphite and petrichor add mineral complexity, while cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla pod and Szechuan pepper provide layers of delicate spice.
On the palate, the wine is intense, complex and beautifully layered, revealing black pastille fruits, mulberries and dark cherries. Bright acidity brings freshness and energy, while integrated stalk phenolics and fine tannins create an elegant structural framework. Notes of coffee bean, cocoa and black cardamom emerge towards the finish, adding further savoury and mineral complexity.
The fruit was individually berry sorted and fermented with 20% whole bunches, before maturation in new, one- and two-year-old French oak barriques and larger-format French oak. The wine was matured in barrel for a total of approximately 18 months before bottling.
The 2022 Art Series Shiraz is an excellent choice for lovers of premium Australian Shiraz, offering both immediate drinking pleasure and strong cellaring potential. Leeuwin Estate’s broader Art Series Shiraz style is designed for long-term ageing, with the winery indicating a 12–15 year cellaring potential.
