The 2022 Sami-Odi Hoffmann Dallwitz Syrah is a highly allocated, single-site Barossa Syrah from the cult producer Sami-Odi, crafted exclusively from the historic Hoffmann Vineyard in Ebenezer. This wine represents one of the most refined and site-transparent expressions in modern Australian Syrah, produced in extremely limited quantities from ancient, dry-grown vines.

The Hoffmann Vineyard includes some of the Barossa’s oldest plantings, dating back more than a century, delivering naturally low yields and intensely concentrated fruit. The 2022 vintage continues Sami-Odi’s focus on precision, texture, and purity, shaped through meticulous barrel selection from the estate’s finest parcels.

Winemaking follows a minimal-intervention, highly detailed approach: whole-bunch fermentation, native yeasts, long élevage in seasoned French oak, and no fining or filtration. The philosophy is centred on expressing vineyard character with maximum clarity and finesse.

The bouquet is lifted and complex, showing blackberry, boysenberry, dark cherry, and blue fruits, layered with floral aromatics of violet, lavender, and rose petal. Beneath the fruit sits a finely detailed savoury core of white pepper, crushed rock, graphite, dried herbs, and subtle spice.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied yet deeply concentrated, with a striking combination of power and elegance. Flavours of dark berries, black plum, and blue fruits are carried by ultra-fine tannins and vibrant acidity, giving the wine a linear, almost weightless structure despite its intensity.

The finish is long, pure, and highly detailed, with lingering notes of dark fruit, pepper spice, floral lift, and mineral tension. While already expressive, the 2022 Hoffmann Dallwitz Syrah is built for serious cellaring and will evolve over 15–25 years, gaining additional savoury depth and complexity.
