The 2022 Yabby Lake Vineyard Single Block Release Block 2 Pinot Noir is an exceptional limited-production Pinot Noir from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, crafted by Yabby Lake Vineyard. Produced only in outstanding vintages, the Single Block Release series represents the purest expression of individual vineyard parcels, highlighting the subtle differences in terroir and vine performance across the estate.

Block 2 is one of the most distinguished Pinot Noir parcels on the Yabby Lake estate. Planted on carefully selected soils and benefiting from Mornington Peninsula’s cool maritime climate, the block consistently produces fruit with exceptional perfume, structure, and finesse. The 2022 vintage provided excellent conditions for slow ripening, resulting in fruit with remarkable concentration, balance, and aromatic complexity.

Hand-harvested fruit was meticulously sorted before fermentation in small batches. A carefully judged proportion of whole bunches was included to enhance aromatic lift, spice, and structural detail. The wine was then matured in premium French oak barriques, with restrained new oak influence allowing the vineyard character to remain the focal point.

The bouquet is intensely aromatic and layered, revealing notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, and cranberry, complemented by hints of rose petal, violet, orange zest, and exotic spice. As the wine opens, more complex savoury nuances emerge, including forest floor, dried herbs, tea leaf, and earthy minerality.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and remarkably precise. Flavours of red cherry, wild berries, raspberry, and plum skin are supported by fine-grained tannins and vibrant natural acidity. The palate combines concentration with elegance, delivering both power and finesse in equal measure.

The finish is exceptionally long and refined, lingering with notes of red fruits, floral perfume, spice, and savoury complexity. While already captivating, this wine is built for long-term cellaring and is expected to evolve beautifully over the next 10–15 years.
