The 2023 Polperro Landaviddy Lane Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is a finely detailed, site-driven Pinot Noir from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, produced by Polperro Wines. Sourced exclusively from the Landaviddy Lane Vineyard in Red Hill, this wine highlights the elegance, perfume, and coastal influence that define the region’s top Pinot Noir sites.

The Landaviddy Lane vineyard is shaped by a cool maritime climate, elevated site, and well-draining soils, which contribute to wines of aromatic lift, fine tannin structure, and vibrant natural acidity. The 2023 vintage delivered excellent growing conditions, producing fruit with purity, concentration, and balance.

Hand-harvested grapes were carefully sorted and fermented in small batches, often with a proportion of whole bunches to enhance fragrance, spice, and structural definition. The wine was then matured in French oak barrels, with restrained use of new oak to maintain clarity and site expression.

The bouquet is expressive and refined, offering aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry, layered with notes of rose petal, violet, baking spice, and subtle cedar. As the wine opens, more savoury complexity emerges, including forest floor, dried herbs, tea leaf, and earthy minerality.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and finely structured. Flavours of red berries, cherry, raspberry, and plum skin are supported by fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. The texture is elegant and seamless, with a strong sense of purity and precision.

The finish is long, savoury, and refined, with lingering notes of red fruit, spice, floral perfume, and gentle earthy complexity. While already approachable with decanting, the wine has excellent cellaring potential and will continue to evolve over the next 8–12 years.
