The 2023 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is a beautifully crafted cool-climate Pinot Noir from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, produced by Yabby Lake Vineyard. Sourced exclusively from the estate’s meticulously managed vineyard in Tuerong, this wine reflects the purity, elegance, and site expression that have established Yabby Lake among Australia’s leading Pinot Noir producers.

The 2023 vintage provided a long and moderate growing season across the Mornington Peninsula, allowing the fruit to ripen gradually while retaining vibrant natural acidity and aromatic complexity. These conditions produced Pinot Noir with outstanding balance, precision, and depth.

Hand-harvested fruit was carefully sorted and fermented in small open fermenters, with a portion of whole bunches included to enhance aromatic lift, spice, and structural detail. The wine was matured in French oak barrels, incorporating a restrained proportion of new oak to complement the fruit while preserving vineyard character.

The bouquet is intensely fragrant and layered, offering aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry, intertwined with notes of rose petal, violet, orange zest, and subtle baking spices. As the wine opens, savoury complexities emerge, including forest floor, dried herbs, tea leaf, and earthy minerality.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and finely structured. Flavours of red berries, cherry, raspberry, and plum skin are supported by vibrant acidity and refined tannins. The wine displays remarkable purity and precision, balancing concentration with elegance and freshness.

The finish is long, savoury, and persistent, leaving lingering notes of red fruits, floral perfume, spice, and subtle earthy complexity. While approachable in its youth, the wine has excellent ageing potential and will continue to develop gracefully over the next 8–12 years.
