The 2024 By Farr Rising Chardonnay is a vibrant and expressive cool-climate Chardonnay from the renowned Moorabool Valley in Victoria, crafted by By Farr. Produced under the Rising label, this wine offers an approachable introduction to the acclaimed By Farr style, combining purity of fruit, texture, and regional character.

Sourced from carefully selected vineyards in the Geelong and Moorabool Valley region, the 2024 vintage benefited from a long, moderate growing season that delivered exceptional fruit quality, natural acidity, and flavour concentration. The wine reflects the cool-climate conditions that have established Geelong as one of Australia’s premier Chardonnay regions.

Made using traditional Burgundian-inspired techniques, the fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented with natural yeasts. Maturation in French oak barrels, including a small proportion of new oak, adds texture and complexity while allowing the fruit and site expression to remain at the forefront.

The bouquet is bright and inviting, revealing aromas of white peach, nectarine, lemon curd, grapefruit, and green apple, layered with notes of citrus blossom, roasted cashew, flint, and subtle oak spice. The aromatics are lifted, precise, and distinctly cool-climate in character.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and beautifully textured, offering flavours of stone fruit, citrus zest, pear, and white peach supported by a creamy mid-palate and vibrant natural acidity. A fine mineral backbone provides focus and balance, while subtle oak integration contributes depth without overwhelming the fruit.

The finish is long, fresh, and elegant, with lingering notes of citrus, white peach, almond meal, and flinty minerality. While delicious in its youth, the wine also has the structure to develop further complexity over the next several years.
