The 2024 Domaine Leflaive Mâcon-Verzé Le Monté is an outstanding single-vineyard Chardonnay that showcases the richness and precision of one of the finest terroirs in the Mâconnais. The Le Monté vineyard sits on a gently sloping plateau overlooking the Verzé Valley at approximately 300 metres above sea level. Its clay-limestone soils with a high proportion of flint contribute remarkable mineral complexity and ageing potential. Farmed according to certified biodynamic principles, the vineyard is hand-harvested and vinified with Domaine Leflaive’s signature attention to detail. Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel tanks, concrete vats, large oak foudres, and 600L barrels, followed by 10 months of lees ageing and a further six months on fine lees to build texture and finesse.

The 2024 vintage reveals lifted aromas of lemon zest, ripe pear, white peach, acacia blossom, crushed stone, and subtle toasted hazelnut. The palate is generous yet focused, offering vibrant acidity, silky texture, and pronounced flinty minerality that carries through to a long, elegant finish. Slightly richer and more structured than other Mâcon-Verzé single-vineyard bottlings, Le Monté offers immediate appeal while rewarding cellaring over the next 5–8 years.

A superb match for lobster, scallops, grilled turbot, roasted chicken, creamy mushroom dishes, truffle risotto, and aged Comté cheese.
