The 2024 Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Pinot Noir is a distinguished single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Victoria’s Yarra Valley, produced by Giant Steps. Sourced exclusively from the renowned Applejack Vineyard in Gladysdale, this wine captures the elegance, purity, and cool-climate character that have made the vineyard one of the Yarra Valley’s most respected Pinot Noir sites.

Planted at approximately 300 metres above sea level in the Upper Yarra, Applejack Vineyard benefits from a cooler growing season, elevated altitude, and ancient volcanic soils. These conditions consistently produce Pinot Noir with lifted aromatics, vibrant acidity, and exceptional finesse. The 2024 vintage provided excellent ripening conditions, resulting in fruit of outstanding clarity and balance.

Hand-harvested fruit was carefully sorted and fermented in small batches, incorporating a measured proportion of whole bunches to enhance aromatic complexity and structure. Maturation in French oak barrels, with restrained use of new oak, preserves the vineyard’s distinctive personality while adding subtle depth and texture.

The bouquet is intensely perfumed, revealing aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, and cranberry, layered with notes of rose petal, violet, cinnamon spice, and orange zest. More complex savoury characters of forest floor, dried herbs, and fine earthy undertones emerge with time in the glass.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and beautifully poised. Flavours of red cherry, wild berries, raspberry, and plum skin are framed by fine-grained tannins and bright natural acidity. The texture is refined and seamless, balancing concentration with elegance and freshness.

The finish is long, vibrant, and mineral-driven, lingering with notes of red fruits, floral perfume, spice, and subtle earthy complexity. While already approachable, the wine possesses excellent cellaring potential and will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 8–12 years.
