The 2024 Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is a vibrant and refined regional Pinot Noir from Victoria’s renowned Yarra Valley, crafted by Giant Steps. Widely regarded as one of Australia’s benchmark regional Pinot Noirs, this wine combines fruit sourced from carefully selected vineyard sites across the Upper and Lower Yarra, delivering a pure expression of the region’s cool-climate character.

The 2024 vintage provided excellent growing conditions throughout the Yarra Valley, with moderate temperatures and a long ripening period allowing Pinot Noir grapes to develop exceptional flavour intensity while retaining freshness and natural acidity. The result is a wine of remarkable balance, elegance, and drinkability.

Fruit was hand-harvested and fermented in small batches, with a portion of whole bunches included to build complexity, fragrance, and structure. Maturation in French oak barrels, including a modest proportion of new oak, enhances texture and depth while preserving the purity of fruit and regional identity.

The bouquet is lifted and expressive, revealing aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry, complemented by notes of rose petal, violet, cinnamon spice, and subtle orange peel. As the wine opens, delicate savoury characters of forest floor, dried herbs, and earthy minerality emerge.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and finely textured. Flavours of red berries, cherry, raspberry, and plum skin are supported by bright acidity and fine-grained tannins. The palate is beautifully balanced, offering both immediate appeal and underlying structure.

The finish is long, fresh, and elegant, with lingering notes of red fruits, floral perfume, gentle spice, and subtle earthy complexity. While delicious in its youth, the wine will continue to evolve positively over the next 5–8 years.
