The 2024 Shaw + Smith Pinot Noir is a refined cool-climate Pinot Noir from the Adelaide Hills, produced by the highly regarded estate Shaw + Smith, known for precision winemaking and expressive, site-driven wines.

Sourced primarily from high-altitude vineyards in Lenswood and Piccadilly, the 2024 vintage reflects a cool, low-yield season that delivered small berries with excellent concentration, bright acidity, and strong aromatic definition. The result is a Pinot Noir with both perfume and structure, leaning toward elegance with underlying power.

Winemaking is focused on purity and balance: hand harvesting, careful fruit sorting, partial whole-bunch inclusion, native yeast fermentation, and maturation in French oak (a measured proportion new). The approach emphasises freshness, fine tannins, and layered complexity.

The bouquet is aromatic and detailed, showing red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, and pomegranate, alongside floral notes of rose petal and violet. Subtle savoury complexity of spice, dried herbs, and light earthy tones builds with air.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and finely structured, with vibrant acidity and finely grained tannins. Flavours of red berries, cherry compote, and cranberry are supported by savoury spice and a subtle mineral edge, giving clarity and length.

The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of red fruit, floral lift, gentle spice, and earthy nuance. While approachable now, it will continue to develop over 5–10 years, gaining more savoury and tertiary complexity.
