The 2024 Torbreck The Struie Shiraz is a premium Barossa Shiraz from the acclaimed Torbreck Vintners, crafted from a blend of old-vine fruit sourced from both the elevated Eden Valley and the warmer Barossa Valley. This combination creates a wine that balances richness and power with freshness, structure, and aromatic elegance.

The 2024 vintage benefited from a cooler, extended growing season, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly while retaining vibrant acidity and exceptional flavour definition. The result is a beautifully balanced Shiraz with concentrated fruit, refined tannins, and impressive ageing potential.

Fruit is sourced from mature vineyards, many planted several decades ago, with each parcel fermented separately to preserve its individual character. The wine is matured in a combination of French oak barriques and larger-format oak vessels, integrating oak seamlessly while allowing the fruit and regional expression to remain the focus.

The bouquet is rich and expressive, revealing aromas of blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, and dark plum, layered with notes of liquorice, dark chocolate, espresso, and vanilla bean. Subtle hints of black pepper, dried herbs, cedar, and graphite add complexity and depth.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety, and beautifully structured, delivering concentrated flavours of ripe black fruits, plum, mocha, and baking spices. Fine-grained tannins and lively natural acidity create balance and precision, while the careful oak maturation contributes texture without overwhelming the fruit.

The finish is long, polished, and persistent, with lingering notes of blackberry, cocoa, liquorice, spice, and savoury minerality. While approachable after decanting, the 2024 The Struie has the structure to cellar gracefully for 10–15 years, developing greater complexity and tertiary character.
