Produced by Penfolds, this exceptional fortified wine is crafted from carefully selected parcels of mature fortified wines that have been aged for many years in seasoned oak casks, creating remarkable richness, complexity, and balance.

Originally known as “Grandfather Port” before Australian fortified wine labelling regulations changed, Grandfather Rare Tawny continues a legacy that spans generations and remains one of the country’s most awarded and respected fortified wines. The bouquet is intensely aromatic and wonderfully complex, revealing layers of raisin, dried fig, date, toffee, caramel, roasted nuts, and dark chocolate. Additional notes of coffee bean, orange peel, spice, molasses, walnut, and old oak emerge with aeration, highlighting the wine’s extended maturation.

On the palate, the wine is rich, silky, and beautifully concentrated. Flavours of toffee, butterscotch, caramelised nuts, dried fruits, honey, mocha, and dark chocolate unfold across a luxurious, velvety texture.
