Still family owned and operated, this small Coonawarra vineyard has been evolving over the past 40+ years and now involves their daughter, Emma who has taken on the winemaking role whilst Doug is looking after the viticultural side of things. The Estate consists of 33 hectares of vines planted on the prized Coonawarra Terra Rosa soils. Established in 1972, the first vintage in 1975 was greeted with considerable enthusiasm.
Ripe and muscular, this is a superb Coonawarra Cabernet that showcases the outstanding fruit quality of the 2018 vintage.
Magnificent inky black colour with an equally deep black dark red hue. Sailing out of the glass are heady aromatics of blackcurrant, liquorice and ripe mulberries followed by dusty vanillin cedar, subtle tobacco and spice notes. On the palate there’s no denying the superb fruit richness of this bold, powerful Coonawarra Cabernet. The mouth awash with lavish blackcurrant, liquorice and black cherry fruit which sits atop a back drop of vanillin cedar, earth and spicy black olives. Balanced and long with muscular tannins shoring up the finish to provide a firm structure. The outstanding depth of fruit carried onto an aftertaste of considerable length that shows a sense of refinement.
