Situated in Pauillac on Bordeaux's left bank, Chateau Lafite Rothschild is one of the original 1855 First Growths. Often considered the premier First Growth, its rich history includes Thomas Jefferson's admiration. Acquired by Baron James de Rothschild in 1868, the estate spans 116 hectares, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2020 vintage, praised for its complexity and elegance, features 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, with 12.8% alcohol.

The 2020 Chateau Lafite Rothschild has received stellar reviews:

"As classic as Lafite gets, this wine shows a dense ruby/plum hue with a tight, layered bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, graphite, and subtle spice. It's flawlessly balanced, deep, concentrated, and layered, with an incredible mid-palate, perfect tannins, and a finish that leaves you salivating. Refined, elegant, and perfect, it will likely take 15 years to reach its prime and could easily age for 100 years."
100 points, Jeb Dunnuck, March 2023

"Amazing aromas of tobacco, crushed stone, cigar box, currants, tar, lead pencil, spices, iron, and dried ginger. Medium- to full-bodied with density and tightness, it's very compact and complex, with racy delicacy and strength. Orange peel undertones add to its contemplative nature. Best after 2030, but worth tasting if you have the chance."
100 points, James Suckling, May 2023

"Deep garnet-purple, it slowly unfurls to reveal pure, intense scents of crushed blackcurrants, fresh plums, and blackberries, with hints of violets, cinnamon stick, fertile loam, and tar. The light-bodied palate is tightly knit with layers of black fruit, minerals, and fragrant earth, supported by firm grainy tannins and a long, earthy finish. A bright and shiny Lafite that needs 12-15 years."
98 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, March 2023
