Gaja Sito Moresco is elegant and superbly made. A blend of Nebbiolo, Cabernet and Merlot grapes from the Langhe, Piedmont wine region and produced by Angelo Gaja, one of the rock stars of the wine world and an iconic figure for Italian winemaking. He’s credited with making Barbaresco world famous as a robust red wine from northern Italy. Full-bodied, smooth and juicy with ripe red currant, black currant, fine herb and spicy, smoky flavours harmonious on the palate. Each variety was vinified separately prior to blending and then matured in oak barrels for 1 year. A good cellaring candidate, drink or hold.
Food pairings: mature cheese, rare cuts of meat, risotto with mushrooms.
The ruby-red Sito Moresco is Angelo Gaja's "everyday wine" and is decidedly fresh and fruity and, since the 2020 vintage, has only been made from Barbera and Nebbiolo from plots in the best Barolo and Barbaresco vineyards. The bouquet has aromas of ripe cherries and berries, underpinned by subtle spicy notes. The rich flavour spreads out powerfully with densely woven tannins, mineral in the long final - everything comes together wonderfully here. -SUPERIORE.DE
