Handpicked from two high-density, northeast-facing blocks¡ªLa Clairi¨¦re and The Enclave¡ªplanted with 7,700 vines per hectare. With volcanic soils, 12 distinct Pinot Noir clones, and extremely low yields (<0.5kg per vine ¨C 30hl/ha), the decision to blend both blocks was made, as it created a wine more complete than the sum of its parts.
The grapes were gently destemmed, naturally fermented with 100% whole berries for three weeks, then pressed and aged on full lees for 12 months in French oak barriques (20% new). The wine was blended to tank to rest and integrate for 5 months. Unfined and unfiltered, it was bottled in September 2024.
The wine offers a delightful mix of red berries¡ªraspberry, strawberry¡ªaccented by a subtle rhubarb savory note and a hint of fresh straw.
On the palate, it unfolds in layers, with forest fruits giving way to the earthier aromas of the forest floor. Fine-grained tannins provide structure.
A taut, sinewy wine with an undercurrent of potential. Best enjoyed now (decanting recommended) or cellared until 2032.
