When the Scottish-born Ryrie brothers planted vines in 1838, their land, named ‘Yering’ by the First Nations People, became Victoria’s first vineyard. In 1996, the Rathbone family purchased Yering Station and transformed it into a regional icon. The vines are meticulously managed using precision viticulture technology and careful handwork to ensure the highest quality fruit reaches the winery and, ultimately, the bottle.
Their flagship "Reserve" Pinot Noir is produced only in the best years, using the finest parcels of fruit. The Reserve wines represent the pinnacle of their efforts, capturing the essence of variety, viticulture, location, season, and winemaking in its purest form.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Reserve is very appealing as it delivers energetic red and dark cherry aromas, with a gentle dusting of violets and dried herbs. Fleshy and mouth-filling, there is a hearty core of earthy/mushroom flavors and old spices, al-dente tannins providing some support. Gravelly minerality adds a savory counterpoint that lingers through to the finish. This needs at least a couple of years to settle. Drink 2025 - 2031.

Angus Hughson - Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Brendan Hawker’s first beginning-to-end reserve pinot. A 70/30% split of MV6/Abel clones; 5% whole bunches and matured in 500L French puncheons (15% new). A bright, deep-ish crimson purple. Darkly fruited and immediately seductive with its aromas of black raspberries, dark cherry, spice and discreet oak. There's an old-vine creaminess on the palate and you barely notice the wine's firm, velvety and persistent tannins. It's great now and it'll be great in 10 years. Drink 2022 - 2032.

Philip Rich - Halliday's Australian Wine Companion

This is a fine regional pinot, brimming with red cherry, bergamot, peony and notes of crushed musk. The tannins, sinuous, shapely and pliant across the medium-bodied palate, meld effortlessly with a ping of cinnamon oak. A beautifully sculpted pinot, to be rewarded. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
