The 2022 Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz is one of Australia’s most celebrated and distinctive Shiraz wines, produced by the acclaimed Mollydooker. Named after founder Sparky Marquis’ blue-eyed son, this flagship single-varietal Shiraz has earned a devoted following worldwide for its extraordinary richness, concentration, and unmistakable Mollydooker style.

Sourced primarily from premium vineyards in McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, the wine benefits from South Australia’s warm climate, which delivers intensely flavoured fruit while maintaining balance and structure. The 2022 vintage produced exceptional Shiraz fruit with remarkable colour, power, and aromatic intensity.

Crafted using Mollydooker’s signature winemaking philosophy, the fruit is harvested at optimum ripeness and fermented to maximise flavour concentration and texture. The wine is matured in American oak barrels, contributing layers of vanilla, mocha, and sweet spice that complement the wine’s rich fruit profile.

The bouquet is immediately expressive and opulent, bursting with aromas of blackberry, blueberry, black plum, and ripe black cherry, layered with notes of vanilla bean, mocha, liquorice, dark chocolate, and sweet baking spices. Hints of violet and espresso add further complexity.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, plush, and intensely concentrated. Flavours of black fruits, plum compote, blueberry jam, and chocolate are framed by velvety tannins and generous oak influence. Despite its richness, the wine maintains balance through fresh acidity and impressive fruit purity.

The finish is exceptionally long and decadent, lingering with notes of dark berries, cocoa, vanilla spice, and mocha. While approachable and highly enjoyable in its youth, the wine also has the structure and concentration to cellar successfully for 10–15 years.
