The 2023 By Farr RP Côte Vineyard Pinot Noir is a finely detailed single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Victoria’s Geelong region, produced by By Farr. Sourced from the Côte Vineyard in the Moorabool Valley, this wine highlights the site’s cooler microclimate and volcanic soils, delivering a Pinot Noir defined by precision, fragrance, and structural finesse.

The 2023 vintage was a standout year in Geelong, marked by an extended, even ripening period that preserved natural acidity while allowing excellent flavour development. The result is a wine of clarity, balance, and finely tuned aromatic intensity.

Made using traditional Burgundian-inspired techniques, including partial whole-bunch fermentation and maturation in French oak barrels, the wine balances fruit purity with savoury complexity. Oak is carefully integrated to support texture and structure without dominating the vineyard expression.

The bouquet is elegant and expressive, offering aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry, layered with notes of rose petal, violet, cinnamon spice, and subtle cedar. As the wine opens, more savoury nuances of forest floor, dried herbs, tea leaf, and earthy minerality emerge.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and finely structured. Flavours of red berries, cherry, raspberry, and plum skin are supported by fine tannins and bright acidity. The texture is seamless and refined, showing excellent purity and site definition.

The finish is long, savoury, and elegant, with lingering notes of red fruit, spice, dried flowers, and gentle earthy complexity. While already approachable with decanting, the wine has excellent cellaring potential and will continue to develop over the next decade or more.
