Produced by Penfolds, Grange is recognised globally as one of the world’s greatest wines, renowned for its power, longevity, and extraordinary ability to mature gracefully over decades. The 1997 vintage represents a classic expression of Grange, offering richness, structure, and the distinctive character that has made the label legendary among collectors and enthusiasts.

Crafted primarily from Shiraz with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine was sourced from premium South Australian vineyards across renowned regions including Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, and Magill Estate. Following fermentation, the wine was matured in new American oak hogsheads, preserving the traditional Grange style established by legendary winemaker Max Schubert.

After more than twenty-five years of bottle age, the 1997 Grange displays remarkable complexity and harmony. The bouquet reveals aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, liquorice, dark chocolate, mocha, cedar, vanilla oak, tobacco leaf, and exotic spice. As the wine opens, additional layers of leather, roasted coffee, dried fruits, and savoury earthiness emerge.

On the palate, it is rich, concentrated, and beautifully integrated. Flavours of dark berries, cassis, dark chocolate, espresso, spice, mature oak, and subtle savoury notes unfold across a full-bodied structure.
