The 2019 By Farr RP Côte Vineyard Pinot Noir is a highly regarded single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Victoria’s Geelong region, crafted by By Farr. Sourced from the esteemed Côte Vineyard, this wine represents a more site-specific and structured expression within the By Farr portfolio, showcasing the precision, complexity, and age-worthiness that define the estate’s top Pinot Noirs.

The Côte Vineyard is located in the Moorabool Valley, where ancient volcanic soils and a cool maritime influence create ideal conditions for producing finely structured, mineral-driven Pinot Noir. The 2019 vintage was a standout year in Geelong, offering long ripening conditions that resulted in exceptional flavour concentration, balance, and natural acidity.

Crafted using traditional Burgundian techniques, including partial whole-bunch fermentation and maturation in French oak barrels, the wine balances intensity with finesse. A measured use of new oak enhances texture and complexity while preserving purity of fruit and vineyard expression.

The bouquet is complex and refined, revealing aromas of dark cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and red plum, layered with notes of violet, rose petal, baking spice, and subtle cedar. As it evolves, deeper savoury elements of forest floor, dried herbs, mushroom, and earthy minerality emerge.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, structured, and elegantly composed. Flavours of red and dark berries, cherry, cranberry, and plum skin are supported by fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity, giving the wine both energy and depth. The texture is seamless, with a strong sense of site expression.

The finish is long, savoury, and persistent, leaving lingering notes of red fruit, spice, dried flowers, and earthy complexity. Now showing the beginnings of bottle maturity, the wine is drinking well but will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 10–15 years.
