The Penfolds Bin 95 Grange Shiraz 2020 is one of Australia’s most prestigious and internationally acclaimed wines. Produced by Penfolds, Grange is regarded as the pinnacle of Australian winemaking and is officially recognised as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. First created by legendary winemaker Max Schubert in 1951, Grange has earned a reputation as one of the world’s great collectible wines, renowned for its extraordinary longevity, power, and consistency.

The 2020 vintage was crafted from 97% Shiraz and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from premium vineyards across McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, and Clare Valley. Despite challenging drought conditions and one of the driest growing seasons on record in parts of South Australia, the vintage produced fruit of exceptional concentration and quality. The wine was matured for 20 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads, a hallmark of the Grange style.

The bouquet is intensely expressive and unmistakably Grange, revealing aromas of blackberry, blueberry, dark plum, liquorice, aniseed, fennel, dark chocolate, sweet oak spice, cedar, and wintergreen. Layers of maraschino cherry, Black Forest cake, dried orange peel, sage, bay leaf, and savoury complexity emerge with aeration, creating remarkable aromatic depth.

On the palate, the wine is powerful yet beautifully composed. Concentrated flavours of blackberry, black cherry, plum cake, dark chocolate, espresso, spice, and ripe dark fruits are supported by plush, velvety tannins and seamlessly integrated oak. The texture is rich and luxurious, with extraordinary depth, balance, and precision. Critics have praised the 2020 vintage for its opulence, refinement, and outstanding cellaring potential, with drinking windows extending well beyond 2055.
