The 2021 Chaffey Bros “Synonymous” Barossa Shiraz is a vibrant, modern expression of Barossa Shiraz from Chaffey Bros Wine Co., known for its energetic, fruit-driven style and excellent value across its range.

The 2021 vintage is widely regarded as one of the strongest recent Barossa years, with a long, cool ripening season that delivered outstanding balance, aromatic lift, and finely structured tannins. The result is a Shiraz that shows both classic Barossa generosity and a more refined, contemporary edge.

Fruit is sourced from select Barossa Valley vineyards, with careful parcel selection and minimalist winemaking to preserve purity and freshness. Fermentation is handled gently, followed by maturation in French oak (a mix of seasoned and small proportion new oak), building texture without overshadowing fruit expression.

The bouquet is expressive and inviting, showing blackberry, blood plum, dark cherry, and blueberry, layered with notes of liquorice, dark chocolate, and sweet spice. Subtle savoury tones of smoked meat, dried herbs, and black pepper add complexity.

On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, plush, and supple, delivering ripe dark fruit flavours framed by soft, polished tannins. There is a creamy, velvety texture through the mid-palate, balanced by fresh acidity that keeps the wine lively and approachable.
