The 2021 Savaterre Pinot Noir is an elegant and meticulously crafted cool-climate Pinot Noir from Victoria’s Beechworth region, produced by Savaterre. Renowned for producing some of Australia’s most refined and limited-release wines, Savaterre combines Burgundian inspiration with the distinctive character of high-altitude Beechworth vineyards.

The 2021 vintage is considered one of the finest in recent years for Victorian Pinot Noir, delivering a long and even growing season that allowed the fruit to develop exceptional aromatic complexity, concentration, and natural balance. The result is a wine of remarkable precision, finesse, and ageing potential.

Fruit was hand-harvested from low-yielding estate vineyards and carefully sorted before fermentation. Traditional winemaking techniques, including a measured proportion of whole bunches and maturation in premium French oak barrels, contribute depth, complexity, and structural elegance while preserving vineyard expression.

The bouquet is highly perfumed and complex, revealing aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, and cranberry, layered with notes of rose petal, violet, orange peel, cinnamon spice, and subtle clove. With time in the glass, savoury nuances of forest floor, dried herbs, truffle, and earthy minerality emerge.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, silky, and beautifully detailed. Flavours of red cherry, wild berries, raspberry, and plum skin are framed by fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. The palate combines purity and concentration with remarkable elegance, delivering a seamless and harmonious texture.

The finish is long, refined, and persistent, with lingering notes of red fruits, floral perfume, spice, and savoury complexity. While already captivating, the wine possesses excellent cellaring potential and is expected to evolve gracefully over the next 10–15 years.
