The 2022 Mount Mary Quintet Red Blend is the flagship wine of Mount Mary and one of Australia’s most revered Bordeaux-inspired blends. Produced in limited quantities from the estate’s historic vineyard in the Yarra Valley, Quintet has become synonymous with elegance, balance, and exceptional ageing potential.

The 2022 vintage was shaped by a cooler growing season that allowed for slow, even ripening and outstanding flavour development. These conditions produced fruit with remarkable aromatic purity, vibrant natural acidity, and refined tannin structure, resulting in a Quintet that is both expressive in its youth and built for long-term cellaring.

Crafted from the five classic Bordeaux varieties — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot — the wine reflects Mount Mary’s philosophy of restraint, complexity, and vineyard expression. Each variety contributes its own character, creating a harmonious and layered blend. The wine was matured in French oak barrels, enhancing structure while preserving fruit purity.

The bouquet is elegant and highly aromatic, revealing layers of blackcurrant, redcurrant, blackberry, dark cherry, and plum, intertwined with notes of violet, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, dried herbs, and subtle spice. With time in the glass, hints of cocoa, earth, and fine oak complexity emerge.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied yet remarkably concentrated, showcasing flavours of cassis, blackberry, dark cherry, plum, and savoury herbs. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity provide precision and balance, while seamless oak integration adds texture and depth.
