The 2024 Freycinet Vineyard Pinot Noir is one of Tasmania’s benchmark Pinot Noirs, produced by the family-owned Freycinet Vineyard on the stunning east coast of Tasmania. Sourced from the estate’s original vineyard plantings established in 1979, this flagship wine showcases the concentration, elegance, and complexity that have made Freycinet one of Australia’s most respected Pinot Noir producers.

The 2024 vintage benefited from warmer and drier conditions following several cooler La Niña-influenced seasons. Early budburst, ideal flowering conditions, and excellent ripening weather produced fruit of exceptional quality, concentration, and natural acidity. The grapes were hand-harvested from the estate’s original vineyard blocks and fermented as 100% whole berries before maturation in French oak barriques (25% new) for 10 months.

The bouquet is intensely aromatic and layered, revealing notes of black cherry, ripe raspberry, plum, and macerated red berries, intertwined with subtle hints of rosehip, exotic spice, truffle, cedar, and forest undergrowth. The wine opens beautifully in the glass, revealing increasing complexity and perfume over time.

On the palate, the wine is silky, detailed, and beautifully structured. Flavours of sour cherry, pomegranate, ripe raspberry, and plum are supported by fine mineral tannins, subtle oak nuances, and a velvety texture. The hallmark Freycinet combination of power, concentration, and elegance is evident throughout.

The finish is long, refined, and persistent, with lingering notes of red fruits, spice, truffle, forest floor, and savoury minerality. While highly enjoyable upon release, careful cellaring will reward collectors, with additional gamey and earthy complexity expected to develop over the next 10–15 years and beyond.
