Sourced from the finest parcels of the renowned Kupe Vineyard in Martinborough, this exceptional wine showcases the concentration, elegance, and distinctive terroir expression that have established Escarpment as one of New Zealand’s leading Pinot Noir producers.

Named after the legendary Polynesian explorer Kupe, the wine is crafted from low-yielding vines planted on the ancient alluvial gravel terraces of Martinborough. The outstanding 2021 growing season delivered fruit of remarkable purity, intensity, and balance, resulting in a wine of exceptional depth and longevity.

The bouquet is captivating and highly complex, offering layers of black cherry, wild raspberry, dark plum, and cranberry, complemented by aromas of rose petal, violet, cinnamon spice, and subtle oak. As the wine evolves in the glass, additional notes of forest floor, dried herbs, truffle, and earthy minerality emerge, adding sophistication and intrigue.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied yet powerfully concentrated, displaying vibrant flavours of dark cherry, raspberry, red plum, and wild berries.
