The 2022 Dalrymple Single Site Swansea Pinot Noir is a refined cool-climate Tasmanian Pinot Noir from Dalrymple Vineyards, sourced from the coastal-influenced Swansea site on Tasmania’s east coast. This vineyard benefits from maritime breezes, long slow ripening, and well-drained soils, producing Pinot Noir with purity, brightness, and a distinctly saline-tinged elegance.

The 2022 vintage in Tasmania delivered wines of poise and clarity, with Swansea showing particularly good aromatic lift and finely detailed fruit expression. The site tends to produce a slightly more red-fruited, perfumed Pinot Noir style with gentle structure and natural freshness.

Winemaking follows Dalrymple’s low-intervention approach, including hand harvesting, careful berry selection, partial whole-bunch fermentation, wild yeast fermentation, and maturation in French oak barriques. The oak regime is carefully balanced to enhance texture while preserving the delicate site expression.

The bouquet is fragrant and expressive, showing red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, and cranberry, layered with floral notes of violet and rose petal. Subtle coastal and savoury nuances emerge with sea spray minerality, dried herbs, and light spice, adding complexity and lift.

On the palate, the wine is light to medium-bodied, elegant, and finely textured, with bright acidity and silky, fine-grained tannins. Flavours of red berries, cherry, and tart plum are supported by a gentle saline minerality that reflects its coastal vineyard origin.

The finish is long, pure, and refreshing, with lingering notes of cranberry, red cherry, spice, and subtle coastal freshness. While approachable in its youth, the 2022 Swansea Pinot Noir will develop additional savoury complexity over 5–10 years.
