Originally inspired by fruit sourced from the historic Kalimna Vineyard in the Barossa Valley, Bin 28 has evolved into a multi-regional Shiraz that combines fruit from some of South Australia’s finest vineyards. The 2022 vintage showcases the hallmark power, generosity, and complexity that have made Bin 28 a favourite among Shiraz enthusiasts worldwide.

Carefully crafted using traditional Penfolds winemaking techniques, the wine was fermented to maximise colour, flavour, and tannin extraction before maturation in seasoned American oak hogsheads. This approach enhances texture and complexity while allowing the fruit to remain the focal point.

The bouquet is rich and expressive, offering aromas of blackberry, dark plum, black cherry, and blueberry, layered with notes of liquorice, mocha, vanilla spice, and dark chocolate. Subtle hints of earth, cedar, and roasted coffee bean add further complexity.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, plush, and generously flavoured. Concentrated notes of black fruits, ripe plum, liquorice, and baking spices are supported by velvety tannins and balanced acidity. The influence of seasoned American oak contributes warmth, structure, and a signature Penfolds richness.

The finish is long, smooth, and satisfying, with lingering flavours of dark berries, cocoa, spice, and subtle oak sweetness. While delicious upon release, the wine also possesses the structure to develop additional complexity over the next 8–12 years.
