The 2013 Penfolds Bin 95 Grange Shiraz is one of the most highly acclaimed modern vintages of Australia’s most iconic wine. Produced by Penfolds, Grange is internationally recognised as a benchmark of fine wine excellence, celebrated for its extraordinary longevity, power, and complexity. The 2013 vintage is widely regarded as one of the greatest Grange releases ever made, earning near-perfect critical scores and exceptional global demand.

Crafted from 96% Shiraz and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit was sourced from premium vineyards across Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, and Magill Estate. Benefiting from a warm, dry growing season, the grapes achieved exceptional ripeness and concentration. The wine was matured for 20 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads, in line with the traditional Grange winemaking style established by Max Schubert.

The bouquet is intensely complex and deeply layered, revealing aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry, dark plum, liquorice, aniseed, dark chocolate, mocha, cedar, vanilla oak, and spice. With aeration, further notes of espresso, roasted coffee, black olive, charcuterie, and savoury earthiness emerge, highlighting the wine’s remarkable depth.

On the palate, the 2013 Grange is powerful, concentrated, and exceptionally structured. Dense flavours of dark berries, cassis, dark chocolate, espresso, plum compote, and spice unfold across a seamless framework of ripe tannins and vibrant acidity. Despite its immense power, the wine shows precision, elegance, and remarkable balance.

The finish is extraordinarily long and persistent, with lingering notes of blackberry, cocoa, cedar, tobacco, spice, and mature oak. While already showing complexity, the 2013 vintage has outstanding cellaring potential and is expected to evolve gracefully for several decades.
