The 2024 Ashton Hills Estate Pinot Noir is a highly regarded single-estate Pinot Noir from the iconic Piccadilly Valley vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, produced by Ashton Hills—one of Australia’s benchmark cool-climate Pinot Noir specialists. Sourced entirely from the estate’s own dry-grown vineyard, this wine reflects the purity, tension, and finesse that have made Ashton Hills a reference point for Australian Pinot Noir.

The 2024 vintage was shaped by a cool and extended growing season, producing low yields and small, concentrated berries with exceptional flavour intensity. Fruit was hand-harvested and carefully sorted before fermentation in small open-top fermenters. A portion of whole bunch inclusion was used to enhance aromatic lift and structural complexity. The wine was then matured in fine-grain French oak barriques, with a measured proportion of new oak to support, rather than dominate, the fruit.

The bouquet is perfumed and layered, offering aromas of red cherry, raspberry, strawberry compote, and plum, alongside floral violet tones and subtle earthy nuances. Gentle spice, clove, and forest floor notes emerge with air, adding depth and savoury complexity.

On the palate, the wine is elegant yet structured, with pure red fruit flavours of cherry, cranberry, and wild strawberry supported by fine tannins and vibrant natural acidity. There is a distinct mineral line through the wine, giving it tension and length, while oak influence remains finely integrated, contributing texture rather than weight.

The finish is long, refined, and savoury, with lingering red berries, spice, and earthy undertones. Already expressive in its youth, the wine has the structure to evolve gracefully over 5–10 years, developing greater complexity and silkiness over time.
