2025 Lowestoft La Meilleure Chardonnay 750ml
The 2025 Lowestoft La Meilleure Chardonnay is one of Lowestoft’s two icon wines, created to showcase an ultra-premium expression of Tasmanian Chardonnay. Chief Winemaker Liam McElhinney developed La Meilleure with a focus on the distinctive coastal terroir found across Tasmania.
The wine draws on exceptional Chardonnay parcels from across Tasmania, including the Coal River Valley, Tasman Peninsula, East Coast and Tamar Valley. Each region contributes a different element to the final blend: fruit richness, acidity and tension, structure and texture, and aromatic complexity.
The exceptional 2025 Tasmanian growing season provided a long, measured ripening period. Chardonnay ripened slowly and evenly, developing concentrated fruit and phenolic maturity while retaining the crystalline acidity and freshness that are characteristic of Tasmania.
The 2025 La Meilleure displays an elegant aromatic profile of white blossom and nectarine, followed by nougat, fresh citrus and finely expressed lime pith. A cool mineral character runs underneath, adding freshness and complexity.
On the palate, lemon curd and white stone fruit form the core of the wine, complemented by subtle hazelnut and restrained oak spice. The wine has impressive intensity without heaviness, combining texture and complexity with remarkable precision. Fine mineral acidity carries the wine through an exceptionally long and composed finish.
La Meilleure was created to sit alongside Lowestoft’s flagship La Maison Pinot Noir, and together these wines represent the pinnacle of the producer’s premium Tasmanian range.
