The 2024 Kooyong Estate Chardonnay is a refined and expressive cool-climate Chardonnay from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, crafted by Kooyong. Produced entirely from estate-grown fruit, this wine reflects Kooyong’s commitment to site-driven winemaking and showcases the elegance, freshness, and mineral precision for which the region is renowned.

Located in Tuerong on the Mornington Peninsula, the Kooyong vineyards benefit from a cool maritime climate, moderating sea breezes, and well-drained soils. These conditions encourage slow, even ripening, resulting in Chardonnay with vibrant acidity, purity of fruit, and outstanding balance.

The 2024 vintage delivered exceptional fruit quality, with ideal growing conditions allowing grapes to achieve full flavour development while retaining freshness and natural tension. Hand-harvested fruit was whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barriques, followed by maturation on lees to build texture and complexity. The restrained use of oak ensures the vineyard character remains at the forefront.

The bouquet is bright and elegant, offering aromas of white peach, nectarine, lemon zest, and grapefruit, layered with notes of citrus blossom, green apple, crushed almond, and flinty minerality. Gentle hints of brioche and oatmeal add further complexity.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, focused, and beautifully balanced. Flavours of stone fruit, citrus, pear, and lemon curd are supported by lively acidity and a creamy, finely textured mouthfeel. The wine displays impressive purity, precision, and length.

The finish is long, clean, and mineral-driven, lingering with notes of citrus, white peach, almond, and saline freshness. Approachable upon release, it also has the structure and acidity to evolve gracefully over the next 6–10 years.
