The 2024 Scotchmans Hill Chardonnay is a refined cool-climate Chardonnay from the Bellarine Peninsula, produced by the renowned Scotchmans Hill winery. Influenced by the maritime climate of Port Phillip Bay, the estate is recognised for crafting elegant, balanced Chardonnay that combines vibrant fruit with subtle oak complexity and mineral freshness.

The 2024 vintage benefited from a long, mild growing season, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly while retaining bright natural acidity and exceptional flavour definition. Grapes were harvested at optimum maturity to preserve freshness and varietal purity.

Winemaking combines modern precision with traditional Burgundian techniques. Whole-bunch pressing, fermentation in a combination of stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels, partial malolactic fermentation, and maturation on fine lees contribute texture, complexity, and balance while maintaining vibrant fruit character.

The bouquet is fresh and expressive, revealing aromas of white peach, nectarine, lemon zest, and green apple, complemented by delicate notes of grapefruit, toasted almond, vanilla, and subtle brioche. Underlying hints of flinty minerality and citrus blossom add elegance and complexity.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, finely textured, and beautifully balanced, with flavours of stone fruit, citrus, and crisp orchard fruit layered over a creamy mid-palate. Bright acidity and restrained French oak provide freshness, structure, and precision.

The finish is long, clean, and mineral-driven, lingering with notes of lemon, white peach, toasted nuts, and subtle oak spice. While delicious in its youth, the wine also has the balance to develop additional complexity over the next 5–8 years.
